Where to farm credits: the Index, Techrot safes and Profit-Taker

Farming · 4 min read · Updated

Credits do not run low gradually, they run out all at once: at the moment a build is fifty thousand short. The good news is there are only three sources worth using, and they differ by multiples, not percentages.

Guide cover

How many credits you actually need

Some scale, taken from the neighbouring guides on this site:

For whatCredits
The Helminth segment50,000
A full Narin build70,000
The Invigoration segment50,000
A player trade on the marketcharged per trade

So one ordinary build is roughly one won round of the Index. That is a useful unit to keep in mind.

Where credits come from by default

Every Star Chart mission except free roam pays a base reward that depends only on the starting enemy level:

1000 + 100 × (minimum enemy level − 1)

No mission modifier changes this: not Nightmare, not Steel Path, not Void Fissures. Dark Sectors and Railjack pay extra on top. The formula is also why farming credits through ordinary missions is pointless: even at level 40 that is under five thousand a run.

The Index on Neptune: the real answer

The Index exists to hand out credits, and for a newer player it is the best source in the game. It works as a wager.

  • High Risk costs 50,000 to enter.
  • Every round won pays 250,000.
  • The results screen shows 200,000 because your stake has already been deducted. That is the net per round.

A Credit Booster only applies to the first round here. Every round after that pays exactly 250,000 regardless. This is the one place where a booster is close to useless.

The barrier is not gear but rules: points have to be banked at the terminal, not merely collected. Lose the round and the stake is gone.

Techrot safes: fast and open to anyone

A safe in Höllvania pays 100,000 base. Unlike Profit-Taker it needs no build and no mechanics knowledge, only finding the safe.

  • If you cannot find it, run the mission while the SHELL CRACKER bounty is active: it marks the safe on your map on entry.
  • The Orokin Eye air support highlights the safe's key.

The key difference from the Index: a safe is a drop, not a mission reward. Which means every multiplier applies to it.

Profit-Taker: once your build exists

Killing the Profit-Taker Orb pays 125,000 base. It is a veteran source: the fight wants real weapons, real mods and an understanding of its shield mechanics. For a newer player it only pays if somebody carries them.

Multipliers: how 100,000 becomes 900,000

MultiplierWhat it does
Credit Boosterdoubles. 40 platinum for 3 days, 80 for 7, 200 for 30
Credit Blessing+25% for 3 hours, from any MR30 player in a relay
Daily first windoubles the mission reward
Chroma's rank 3 Effigydoubles high value physical drops
Prosperous and Loyal Retrievera chance-based bonus on drops

On drops these stack in different ways and the result is not linear. A worked example: a Techrot safe under Effigy, a Blessing and a Retriever proc displays as 450,000, and with a Credit Booster on top that is 900,000 from one safe.

Spend the daily first win on the most expensive mission you will run, an Arbitration or a high level Railjack, not on whatever you open the day with. It is a free double and it burns either way.

Which to pick

SourceBaseFor whom
Index, High Risk250,000 a roundeveryone, newer players most
Profit-Taker125,000veterans with a build
Techrot safe100,000anyone willing to search the map
An ordinary missionunder 5,000nobody, on purpose

Need credits once for a build, go to the Index. Already living in Höllvania, safes cost less effort. Profit-Taker makes sense when you are farming it for arcanes anyway.

What not to do

  • Do not farm credits through ordinary missions. The formula above makes it the worst trade of time in the game.
  • Do not buy a booster for the Index. It only counts in round one.
  • Do not sell prime parts to a vendor for credits. The same parts sell to players for platinum, which is worth more at any sane rate. What the junk is worth is in the prime junk guide.

Where Orikon helps

Credits are almost always needed alongside something else: a build needs materials, a trade needs platinum. Orikon sits over the game and prices what just dropped, so keep-or-sell is decided on the spot instead of after a trip to a website.

Common questions

Where is the fastest credit farm in Warframe?

The Index on Neptune, High Risk: 50,000 to enter and 250,000 for every round you win.

Why does the Index show 200,000 instead of 250,000?

Because your 50,000 stake has already been subtracted. The net per round is 200,000.

Does a Credit Booster work in the Index?

Only for the first round. Every round after that pays exactly 250,000 regardless of boosters.

How many credits does an ordinary mission give?

1000 plus 100 per enemy level above the first. Even at high levels that is under five thousand, which is why nobody farms credits that way.

What is a Credit Blessing?

A +25% bonus for three hours that any Mastery Rank 30 player can hand out in a relay. It adds to other multipliers rather than replacing them.

How much does a Techrot safe give?

100,000 base, and every multiplier applies. With Effigy, a Blessing, a Retriever proc and a Booster one safe reaches 900,000.

Should I sell prime parts for credits?

No. The same parts sell to players for platinum, which is worth more. Credits are easier to top up in the Index.
