Nitain Extract: where it comes from and why it cannot be farmed
Nitain is the resource you cannot get the usual way: it does not drop off enemies, does not sit in veins, and no booster touches it. There is exactly one dependable route, and it is not farming.
The short answer
The Nightwave store, 15 creds for five. It is an evergreen offering: always in the store, and you can buy it as many times as you like.
If Nightwave has not come up yet, it is a seasonal mission system with daily and weekly goals. They pay creds, and creds are spent in its store. So Nitain comes from doing tasks rather than running missions, which is a different kind of planning.

The Ghoul Purge is the best of them, but it turns itself on every few weeks, so no farm can be planned around it.
What not to do with Nitain
- Boosters do nothing. Not the resource one, not the drop chance one.
- It does not trade. You cannot buy it from players, only earn it.
- Farming it through missions is pointless. At around one percent in rotation C you will spend an evening on what one weekly Nightwave task pays for.
How much you need
Nitain is needed in small amounts at inconvenient moments: it sits in Warframe, weapon and gear recipes, and you usually find out once everything else is collected. So the rule is simple: buy it in the store ahead of time, five at 15 creds, whenever you have creds and nothing better to spend them on.
This is the rare case where hoarding is correct. Argon decays, credits can be topped up in an hour at the Index, but Nitain cannot be hurried at all: without it a build waits until next week.
